Universal Glass & Metals was the design-assist curtainwall contractor for the expansion of the Firekeepers Casino in Battle Creek, MI. The goal of the project was to create a second 8-story hotel tower to accommodate 200 guest rooms including suites on multiple levels, a new signature restaurant, and an underground connection to the existing facility. Renovations were also performed on the existing facility to interface a two tower operation, including the entry, lobby, kitchen, meeting rooms, restaurants, and throughout the existing hotel.
Universal Glass & Metals’ role on the project began with providing design and cost information during the preconstruction phase, which resulted in the company being awarded as the installing contractor of the unitized curtainwall system. Universal Glass & Metals performed work on the extensive curtain wall exterior of the newly constructed hotel tower, as well as interior glass and glazing throughout the facility and the new 111,770 sq. ft. of gaming floor. The new building was constructed as a cast-in-place concrete structure with a mixture of glazing and metal panels systems to match the architecture of the existing facility.
