As the spring home-buying season ramps up, new condos are hitting the market east of downtown Detroit.
The for-sale condo units at the long-planned Lafayette West development, located just east of I-375 and north of Lafayette Street, are starting to draw interest from a variety of buyers, according to Hannah Hoppough, a Realtor in the Detroit office of @Properties Christie’s International Real Estate, who is representing the project’s developer, Norman Pappas.
The first phase of the project, which consists of 35 condos and 102 apartments, cost around $75 million and another two phases are expected.
An open house this past weekend “had a really good turnout” and sales of three condo units are now pending, Hoppough told Crain’s. While a model near the site has been set up for months, the staged model units are helping draw more visibility, according to Hoppough.
Occupancy is expected to begin by August.
