Larry Brinker, Sr. began his career as a carpenter apprentice and always had the desire to build something of his own. He worked his way up to opening his own small carpentry company in 1989 and today is owner and chairman of Brinker. He is an industry leader who has been involved in several billion dollars of construction projects.
Larry has blazed many trails within his industry and community, establishing himself early on as a major player in the transformation of Detroit. He has also been strongly supportive of the community and believes in being a positive role model. Seen as a “beacon of light,” he has sponsored local youth with one-on-one mentoring and been personally involved in programs like PuLSE (Public Leadership and Social Equity) that help fight poverty in Detroit. Through the years, Larry has served on several boards including the Construction Association of Michigan, Detroit Workforce Development Board, Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry. He is the first Minority Business Enterprise Owner to be inducted into the Michigan Construction Hall of Fame and he and Larry Jr. are the first Father-Son duo recipients of the Crain’s 40 Under 40 Award.
