Project Engineer, L.S. Brinker

General Position Summary
The Project Engineer assists and supports the Project Manager and Superintendent on assigned projects, performing critical daily tasks including the distribution of all project correspondence and cost updates, reviewing shop drawings, maintaining and updating the project schedule, and tracking material and equipment delivery. Project Engineers are responsible for ensuring that all trade work meets the specified project scope and schedule, including material and equipment delivery, and scheduling of post-bid meetings with subcontractors. Project Engineers will guarantee that all submittals and RFI’s are submitted correctly and closed out on time, as well as coordinate with multiple subcontractors and owners to create and issue change orders. Project Engineers will also upload the proper photos of work progress and completion to be stored on company applications, and shared with project stakeholders. The primary function of the position is to provide support throughout all project management processes, performing routine daily activities while gathering and distributing information. The Project Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as having strong communication and client service skills.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Setup initial contracts and project information in Procore
- Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals
- Initiate, prepare, review, track and distribute RFls
- Assist in management of project permit process
- Assist in preparations of bid packages and procurement
- Update construction schedule with assistance from Superintendent and input from Project Manager, including Trade Contractor progress and materials delivery input
- Change management systems, including soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and preparing quotations and change orders
- Track and inspect material deliveries
- Compiles reports regarding financial performance of the project, including Monthly Project Status Report (PSR), Anticipated Cost Report (ACR) and Cost Event (CE) Report
- Assist in preparation of monthly owner project status reports, as required
- Attend project meetings and record meeting minutes
- Assist in project close-out
- Communicate and enforce Brinker Safety and Health Management Program
- Demonstrate commitment to a safe working environment through own actions and mentoring others
Job Skills & Abilities
- Broad understanding of construction industry concepts & methods, project team members roles and responsibilities, trades and materials
- Ability to understand Drawings, Contract Documents and Specifications for most trades and disciplines
- Perform constructability and coordination reviews of contract documents, prepare and issue bid package supplements, and assist with bid openings and bid tabulations
- Assist with all Change Management processes including reporting, estimating, negotiation and implementation of change orders
- Assist in the preparation of “look-ahead” schedules to support near term project activities
- Management, review, coordination and distribution of all submittals, RFI’s and Material Status Reports
- Organize project documents such that all information is filed and readily accessible by all project staff
- Participate in business meetings, proposal process and interviews with customers and/or prospective projects
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Computer knowledge and full proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project and Microsoft Office applications/li>
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work productively with project team members
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent
- 5 to 7 years of industry experience
Authority
The Project Engineer derives his or her authority from, and performs all duties with guidance from, the Senior Project Manager, Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer.
Work Environment Job/Conditions
This job may be performed in the office or on the jobsite and requires frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching. Due to computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hands and wrists. He/she must be able to navigate the jobsite and is expected to be able to comply with all safety regulations in the office and on the jobsite.
